Welcome =)

Computer can merely compound, at speed, the oldest problem in the relations between human beings, and in the end the communicator will be confronted with the old problem, of what to say and how to say it.

Post #6: Reflection on principles of communication/ Teamwork on programming and problem-solution projects

In this last blog post of CG1413 module, I shall reflect and talk about what I have learnt throughout this course.

First of all, I believe that this module is very comprehensive as it does not only impart theories on communications, it also give us many opportunities to practice what we learnt, which I feel is very important, because being able to apply what we learnt, is truly the ultimate goal. Below is a summary of what we had applied in our team projects, problem-solving and CG1102.

Principles of communication

My teammates and I are able to communicate effectively in our project groups and this minimized misunderstandings and also ensures that our meetings are conducted more smoothly. In most instances, we understood each other and therefore able to help each other effectively.

7Cs in writing

The knowledge of 7Cs in writing allowed my team and I to write better and more effectively for our meeting agendas and reports that we needed for our projects.

  • Completeness–Revising, Editing, Proofreading

Interpersonal/Intercultural communication

Since my project group members are not of the same race and religion with me, there is a need to have good intercultural communication, so that misunderstandings will be prevented or minimized. Having learnt this, I am confident that I will be able to perform well next time in a intercultural group during my course of study, or work.

Principles of problem-solving approach

Having acquired this skill, my team is able to formulate effective survey and interview questions to aid us better in our problem-solving project. We had also learnt to formulate good problem statement which is important as it determine the scope and focus of our project and the ultimate goal.

Presentation skills

In this course, we learnt valuable presentation skills and also presentation planning. We have the opportunity to apply what we learnt in Oral presentation 1 and 2. After every presentation, we were evaluated by our tutors and peers and we also did reflections for ourselves. All these allowed us to recognize our own weaknesses and strengths and therefore we are able to improve ourselves after every presentation.

In conclusion, this module has been an enjoyable one and I had learnt valuable communication skills which will be beneficial to me in my remaining course of study and also when i venture into the working world next time.

à bientôt ! =)
